Dickson Drops a Sock Trick
7/30/2012
The New Westminster Salmonbellies miss the Western Lacrosse Association playoffs and there's a pretty simple reason: Curtis Dickson is healthy. A tweet from IL Indoor's own Teddy Jenner captured the essence of how good Dickson was last night for the Maple Ridge Burrards in their 12-6 win over the Bellies:" I know it's the last game of the @WLALacrosse season and he's only played 2 games but can we add @CurtisDickson17 to the MVP list? #unreal". Dickson scored six goals, including two on the power play and one shorthanded, as the Burrards denied New Westminster a playoff spot.

In the process they earned a spot on the Burnaby Lakers Christmas card list. The Lakers clinched the final playoff berth when the buzzer went in Maple Ridge. Jarrett Davis, who will be facing Dickson in the NLL's Battle of Alberta now that he's been traded to Edmonton for Paul Rabil, added five assists for the Burrards and Drew Dickie stopped 37 of the 43 shots he faced for the win.

Ilija and Alex Gajic each scored twice for New Westminster. Ilija added three assists and Alex two. The Salmonbellies miss the playoffs for the first time since 2004 while the Lakers are in the post season for the first time since 2008. Burnaby will face the first-place Langley Thunder in one semi-final. The Victoria Shamrocks and Coquitlam Adanacs meet in the other. Langley and Burnaby open the playoffs Wednesday at the Langley Events Centre. The full schedule for both series is available on WLA's Pointstreak site.
